OPHEA is a well renowned organization that provides tools to help educators promote healthy living. “Ophea is a not-for-profit organization led by the vision that all kids value and enjoy the lifelong benefits of healthy, active living.”

When you sign up on the website, you gain access to numerous tools and services.

Resources available: • Lesson planning tools (free) • Professional development workshops, webinars, and conferences ($$) • Pre-planned activities (free/$$) • Supplemental activities (free)

• Articles/ Blog posts (free) • Healthy School Certification

(https://youtu.be/QDXeq5S_J8A) I have personally examined some of the lesson planning tools, pre-planned activities, supplemental activities, and the healthy school certification. All of them were very well thought through and put together. The lesson plans are based off of the Ontario Curriculum and specifically states the curriculum expectations achieved in the lesson. Although some of the resources available are at a cost, there are so many free resources as well. Moreover, the tools that cost money are books and other items that cost money to produce and ship.

This is a great website tool for all teachers; they have tools ranging from JK all the way to grade 12. In addition to the physical education specific resources there are also resources for meeting the DPA (daily physical activity) requirements, creating a healthy classroom environment, starting running clubs, and much more.
