CSL REVIEW

I was able to do my CSL at Ridgemont High School. I have two associate teachers that I split my time between, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. They both have very different but equally great teaching styles. I have learned quite a bit from observing as well as teaching alongside them.

During my time at CSL I was able to get involved with the school by being a part of the breakfast club program, helping to coach the Girls Rugby 7’s and SR. Girls Volleyball teams, and helping out with the rugby class on “Grade 8 day”. I also was afforded the opportunity to teach health, fitness, dance, and volleyball classes with the 9 and 10 girls Phys. Ed. Classes.

For my CSL project, I had the idea of performing baseline concussion testing with the student athletes. After discussing this idea with Mike and the head of the Athletic department, Danny Leeson, we decided we should narrow our focus on the full contact sport- rugby. The reason we came to this conclusion was due to the time constraint we had with the number of students and how long the testing takes to do. Before putting our project in place, Mike and I cleared our idea with Vice Principal Hale. Mike and I utilized the lunch periods during our CSL to complete the baseline concussion testing with the boys’ rugby team. We hope that this baseline testing is something that will be useful and that it could potentially be implemented with all new players each year. Overall, I had a great CSL experience at Ridgemont High School.
